Andreas Reiter was born on 23 December 1736 in Gersfeld, then part of the Free Noble Province of Ancient Knights. He was the son of Johann Michael Reiter from Hildburghausen and Katharina Weibrecht form Gersfeld. Andreas was a journeyman dyer. Andreas and his wife, Anna Maria Reinick, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 14 September 1766 aboard a ship under the comand of skipper Reders. They settled in the Volga German colony of Frank on 1 September 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 115.
Katharina Wiebrecht was the daughter of Johann Adam Wiebrecht and Barbara Fischer. The Fischer line in Gersfeld has been traced back to Lukas Fischer (born 25 November 1622) and Katharina Schubert.
Anna Maria Reinick, daughter of Johannes Reinick & Margaretha Guttmann, was born in Gersfeld on 23 November 1739.
