Joseph Reon, a farmer, his wife Elisabeth, and his son Karl (age 12) settled in the Volga German colony of Franzosen on 16 May 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 41.

The 1767 census records that Joseph Reon came from the French village of Bagnols.
