Michael Resch and his wife Susanna Barbara arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 22 August 1766 aboard a galliot named Die Vergoldete Weintraube (The Guilded Grape) under the command of Skipper Joachim Hermann Andersen.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Preuss on 16 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 96.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Michael Resch was a farmer while the 1767 census records that he was a hunter (Jäger).
In 1798, Thomas Resch moved from Preuss to Brabander.
