Jacques Ribeau, a butcher (Fleischer), and his wife Magdalena settled in the Volga German colony of Franzosen on 23 May 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 63 along with a newborn son Luis (age ½).

The 1767 census records that Jaques Ribeau came from the French village of Poitiers.
