François Ricoux, a tailor (tailleur), age 24, is recorded on a list of French colonists dated September 1764.

Franz Ruquois [sic], a farmer, his wife Eva, and their daughter Maria Katharina (age 2) settled in the Volga German colony of Franzosen on 28 July 1765. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 6.

The 1764 list of colonists records that François Ricoux came from the French region of Normandy. The 1767 census records that Franz Ruquois came from the French village of Laval.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
