Ries (Beauregard)*
Georg Ries, a farmer, his wife Elisabeth, and children (Johann, age 3; Peter, age 6-weeks) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard an English frigate under the command of Skipper Adam Beerfeier.
Georg died, and Elisabeth remarried to widower Heinrich Dergans. The combined Dergans / Ries family settled in the Volga German colony of Nieder-Monjou on 3 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 29 along with a note that they relocated to the colony of Beauregard in 1768.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Georg Ries came from the German region of Hessen.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Ries family among the Volga German colonies.
