Discussion & Documentation:

Johann [Georg] Ritter, a spinner (Spinner), and his wife Anna arrived from Reval [Estonia] at the port of Oranienbaum aboard the pink Slon under the command of Lieutenant Sergey Panov.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Warenburg on 12 May 1767 and Johann Georg is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 101 along with a note that he was widowed on 21 November 1767.

The 1767 census records that Johann Georg Ritter came from the German village of Hermannstadt.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Ritter family among the Volga German colonies.
