Rose (Moor)
Ludwig Rose, a retired soldier from Prince George’s Regiment, married Anna Margaretha Breul on 2 September 1756 in Waldkappel.
Anna Margaretha Breul, daughter of Valentin Breul & Anna Catharina Peter, had been baptized in Waldkappel on 15 September 1719.
The baptisms of two of their children are recorded in the parish register of Waldkappel: (1) Johann Heinrich, baptized 17 March 1754; and (2) Anna Christina, baptized 26 April 1757.
Ludwig Rose, a farmer, and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a galliot named Kronstadt under the command of Lieutenant Samuel Gibbs.
Ludwig Rose, a farmer, his wife Anna Margaretha, and children (Johann Heinrich, age 14; Christina, age 11) are recorded on the 1767 census of Moor in Household No. 67. They had settled in Moor on 1 July 1767.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Ludwig Rose came from the German district of Hessen while the 1767 census records that he came from the German district of Isenburg.
