Johann Philipp Roth, son of Johann Martin Roth (d. 12 January 1761), was born on 12 September 1742 in Wenings, about 14 kilometers north-northeast of Büdingen in Hessen.

Johann Philipp Roth, a farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 13 September 1766 aboard the galliot Die Perle under the command of Skipper Thomson.

Johann Philipp Ruth [sic] is recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Johann Philipp and his wife Anna are recorded on the 1767 census of Walter in Household No. 104. They had settled in Walter on 10 September 1767.

Widower Philipp Roth and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Walter in Household No. Wt072.

The death of Philipp Roth in 1800 is recorded on the 1811 census of Walter in Household No. 72.

The sons of Konrad Roth, son of Philipp Roth, are recorded on the 1834 census of Walter in Household No. 126 along with a note that Konrad's son Christian had relocated to the colony of Hussenbach.

Johannes Roth, son of Konrad Roth, and his family are recorded on the 1857 census of Walter in Household No. 211.

Jakob Roth, son of Konrad Roth, and his family are recorded on the 1857 census of Walter in Household No. 216.

Christian Roth, son of Konrad Roth, and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Hussenbach in Household No. 64 along with a note that he had arrived in Hussenbach from Walter in 1829.

Johannes Roth, son of Philipp Roth, and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Walter in Household No. 126.

The sons of Johannes Roth are recorded on the 1857 census of Walter in Household No. 127.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Philipp Roth came from the German region of Isenburg.
