Rothenberger (Warenburg)
Matthias Rothenberger and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the ship Die Neue Freiheit von Bremen under the command of Skipper Steingrawer.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Warenburg on 12 May 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 60 along with stepson Andreas [surname not recorded], age 17.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Mathias Rothenberger was a farmer from the German region of Usingen while the 1767 census records that he was a procurer of saltpeter (Salpetersieder) from the German village of Frumet [?] in the Wertheim region.
