Discussion & Documentation

Andreas Rumpel, a soldier (Soldat), and his wife Barbara settled in the Volga German colony of Kamenka on 6 July 1765. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 4.

Andreas Rumpel and his wife Barbara are recorded on the 1775 census of Kamenka in Household No. 32 as the parents-in-law of Johannes Schäfer. Perhaps they were the parents of a previous wife of Johannes Schäfer.

Andreas Rumpel is recorded on the 1798 census of Kamenka in Household No. Km045 as the brother-in-law [sic] of Johannes Schäfer.

The 1767 census records that Andreas Rumpel came from the German region of Würzburg.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Rumpel family among the Volga German colonies.
