Discussion & Documentation

The confirmation of Andreas Sabelfeld on 28 March 1728 is recorded in the parish register of Werheim.

Andreas Sabelfeld & Anna Elisabeth von Hess were married on 17 July 1766 in the Lutheran Cathedral (Evangelische Kirche Dom) in Lübeck.

Andreas Sabelfeld, a farmer, his wife Anna, and children (Johann, age 14; Philipp, age 10; Anna, age 4) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 24 July 1766 aboard a barque named Georg under the command of Skipper Adam Bairnsfair.

Andres Sabelfeld (age 45), a dyer (Färber), his wife Anna Elisabeth Heiss (age 28), and children (Johann Georg, age 18; Johann Philipp, age 15; Katharina, age 6; Johann Christoph, age 3-months) are recorded on the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 161. They had arrived in Katharinenstadt on 17 August 1767.

The 1776 Katharinenstadt Land Register records the widow Maria Wilhelmina Luley (age 40) remarried to Johann Sabelfeld (age 24) and two Luley children in the household (Ludwig Wilhelm, age 25 [who is absent]; Wilhelmina, age 15). [See Luley Family.]

In 1794, Johann Friedrich Sabelfeld moved from Katharinenstadt to Beauregard.

The 1767 census records that Andreas Sabelfeld came from the German region of Nassau-Usingen.
