Discussion & Documentation

Johann Gottlieb Sachse, a cobbler (Schuhmacher), his wife Friederika Augusta Winter, and daughters (Friederika, age 10; Sophia, age 6) are recorded on the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 74. They had settled there on 27 August 1766.

The 1767 census records that Johann Gottlieb Sachse came from the German village of Dresden in Sachsen (Saxony) and that his wife Friederika Augusta Winter had come from the German region of Anhalt-Zerbst.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
