Konrad Sassmannhausen [also Sacksmannhausen], a craftsman (Handwerker), his wife Elisabeth, and son Elias (age 1) are recorded on the 1767 census of Stahl am Karaman in Household No. 26. They had settled there on 10 June 1767.

In 1788, Konrad Samzan [sic] moved from Stahl am Karaman to Engels.

The 1767 census records that Konrad Sassmannhausen came from the German village of Grünberg in the Darmstadt region.
