Sauer (Kind)*
Georg Sauer, a farmer, and his wife Katharina arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.
Johann Georg Sauer and his wife Anna Maria are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
Georg, a farmer, and his wife Maria are recorded in Household No. 105 on a list of Beauregard recruits attached to the 1767 census along with a note indicating that they resettled to the Volga German colony of Schaffhausen in 1768.
However, the 1798 census records that they settled in the Volga German colony of Kind, and in 1771, Johann Georg Sauer and his family moved from Kind to Schaffhausen.
The 1767 census records that Georg Sauer came from the German village of Bensefert [?] in the Pfalz region.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Sauer family among the Volga German colonies.
