Schäfer (Basel)
Jürgen Baltzer [sic] Schäffer & Anna Margaretha Sauerbreis [sic] were married 25 April 1766 in the Lutheran Cathedral (Evangelische Kirche Dom) in Lübeck.
Balthasar Schäfer and his wife Anna arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Gabriel Wild.
Balthasar Schäfer, a farmer, and his wife Margaretha are recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Nieder-Monjou in Household No. 24.
Balthasar Schäfer and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Basel in Household No. Bs02.
The Oranienbaum passenger list does not record from where Balthasar Schäfer came. The 1767 census records that Balthasar Schäfer came from the German village of Stauhausen.
