Franz Xaverius Schäfer, a single man, settled in the Volga German colony of Kamenka on 6 July 1765. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 98 along with a note that he is working as a day-laborer (Lohnarbeiter) in the colony of Schuck.

Franz Xaverius Schäfer and his wife are recorded on the 1775 census of Kamenka in Household No. 93.

Franz Xaverius Schäfer and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Kamenka in Household No. Km101.

The 1767 census records that Franz Xaverius Schäfer came from the German village of Nägelstedt.
