Schäfer (Philippsfeld)
Andreas Schäfer, a farmer, his wife Anna, and his mother-in-law Margaretha [surname not recorded] arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.
Andreas Schäffer [sic], his [new] wife Catharina, and [mother-in-law] Margaretha Kint are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Philippsfeld on 3 August 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 32.
In 1776, Andreas Schäfer and his daughter moved from Zürich to Philippsfeld.
The 1767 census records that Konrad Wagner came from the German village of Lingelbach in Hessen.
