Schäfer (Seelmann)*
Pantrazius Schäfer, a farmer, and his wife Maria arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Heinrich Sager.
Panovatius Schaeffer [sic] and his wife Margretha are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Seelmann on 5 September 1767 where he is recorded on the 1767 census in Household No. 53 along with a new wife Anna.
The 1767 census records that Pankraz Schäfer came from the German village of Gauerstadt in the Bamberg region.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Schäfer family among the Volga German colonies.
