Johann Georg Schäfer, a barrel maker (Fassbinder), and his wife settled in Warenburg on 12 May 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 62.
The 1767 census records that Johann Georg Schäfer came from the German region of Nassau-Usingen.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Schäfer family among the Volga German colonies.
