Schönchen
Nikolaus Schönchen, a student, and his wife Maria are recorded on the 1767 census of Schönchen in Household No. 1 along with a note that Nikolaus is serving as the colony's mayor (Vorsteher). They had settled there on 17 August 1767.
It is after him that the colony of Schönchen received its name.
In 1787, Johann Adam Schönchen moved from Schönchen to Schaffhausen.
Adam Schönchen from Schönchen is recorded on the 1798 census of Schaffhausen in Household No. Sh04.
Adam Schönchen and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Schaffhausen in Household No. 107 where his death is recorded in 1831.
The 1767 census records that Nikolaus Schönchen came from Luxembourg.
