Georg Schäfer, a farmer, his wife Maria, and children (Katharina, age 27; Johann, age 20; Georg, age 13; Johann [again], age 10; Jakob, age 6; Johann [again], age 1) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 24 July 1766 aboard a barque named Georg under the command of Skipper Adam Bairnsfair. Arriving with them were Johann Schäfer, a farmer, and his wife Katharina.
Widower Georg Peter Schäfer, a farmer (Ackerbauer), and his sons (Georg Peter, age 14; Johann Jakob, age 6) are recorded on the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 6. Recorded in Household No. 7 is Johann Peter Schäfer, a farmer (Ackerbauer), and his wife Christina (age 17).
They settled in the Volga German colony of Susannental on 3 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Households No. 6 & 7.
In 1790, Johannes Schäfer moved from Susannental to Meinhard. In 1792, Johann Georg Schäfer moved from Susannental to Meinhard.
The 1767 census records that both Schäfer families came from the German village of Reckenroth.
