Discussion & Documentation

Johannes Schäfer, a farmer, and his wife settled in Warenburg on 12 May 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 132.

The 1767 census records that Johannes Schäfer came from the German village of Steinbach in the Hessen-Kassel district.

There do not appear to be any surviving male descendants of this Schäfer family that continue among the Volga German colonies.
