Discussion & Documentation

Konrad Scheibele, a craftsman (Handwerker), and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Mariental on 14 June 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 70.

Son Jakob is recorded on the 1798 census with the surname Schäuffel which is thought to be incorrect.

The 1767 census records that Konrad Scheibele came from the German village of Ulm in Schwaben (Swabia).
