Scherf
Nicolaus Scherf, son of Joh. Georg & Margaretha Scherf, was born in Waldrach on 8 May 1740.
Nicolaus Scherff married on 12 March 1766 in the Lutheran Church of Büdingen to Catharina Krafft, daughter of Philipp & Anna Elisabeth Krafft. She had been born 4 March 1733 in Sprendlingen.
Nikolaus Scherf, a farmer, and his wife Katharina settled in the Volga German colony of Moor on 15 January 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 18 along with her step-children [children of her first husband Philipp Bamberger] (Johann Philipp, age 16; Anna Kunigunda, age 14; Konrad, age 13). Nikolaus Scherf, his [new] wife Maria Elisabeth née Ebel, and son Jakob (age 29) and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Moor in Household No. Mo41.
