Heinrich Rothler, a farmer, his wife Elisabeth, children (Marianna, age 4; Joseph, age 1), and [step-]son Philipp [Scherscher] (age 13) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 14 June 1766 aboard the ship named Die Neue Fortuna (The New Fortune) under the command of Skipper Ahrens Steingraber.
Philipp Scherscher (age 13) is recorded on the 1767 census of Preuss in Household No. 75 along with his stepfather Heinrich Rothler. [See Rothler Family.]
Neither the Oranienbaum passenger list nor the 1767 census record from where Philipp Scherscher came.
There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
