Schiefferstein
Widower Nikolaus Schiefferstein, a weaver, and his son Kaspar (age 20) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.
Nicolaus Schiferstein [sic] and his son Caspar [age not recorded] are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Paulskaya on 3 June 1767. Son Kaspar is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 73.
Elisabeth Schiefferstein and her two sons are recorded on the 1834 census of Paulskaya in Household No. 107.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Nikolaus Schiefferstein came from the German region of Weilburg. The 1767 census records that Kaspar Schiefferstein came from the German village of Naderili [?].
