Schipper (Stahl am Karaman)*
Johann Michael Schipper from Gochsheim & Margaretha Geiling from Rhein Münster were married on 7 April 1766 in the Lutheran Church of Büdingen.
Johann Schippert [sic], a farmer, and his wife Margaretha arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard the galliot named Kronshlot under the command of Skipper Ivan Kunakovskii.
Michael Schipper, a farmer, and his wife Elisabeth settled in the Volga German colony of Stahl am Karaman on 22 June 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 40 along with his stepdaughters [surname Kewel] (Christina, age 17; Christina [again], age 11; Margaretha, age 8; Dorothea, age 3).
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Schippert [sic] came from the German region of Würzburg. The 1767 census records that Michael Schipper came from the German region of Dienheim.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Schipper family among the Volga German colonies.
