Schlegel (Huck)
Johann Conrad Schlegel, son of Johannes and Anna Catharina Schelgel, was baptized in Wolferborn on 16 May 1728. He married Elisabeth Wagener, daughter of Johann Heinrich Wagener, on 12 February 1754 in Wolferborn. The baptisms of four of their children are recorded in the Wolferborn parish register: (1) Johannes, 25 February 1754; (2) Hermann, 23 June 1757; (3) Nicolaus, 9 March 1760; and (4) Johann Jobst, 18 February 1763.
The Schlegel family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum in Russia on 19 July 1766 aboard the snow-brig named Christina under the command of Skipper Jacob Stappenberg.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Huck on 1 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 Census in Household No. 23.
In 1790, Georg Philipp Schlegel moved from Huck to Dönhof.
Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that Johann Konrad Schlegel came from the German region of Isenburg.
