Wilhelm Schmallenberg was born in approximately 1771 in the town of Frankfurt (am Oder).
He served as a cuirassier in the 2nd Prussian Cavalry Regiment of Napoleon's Army. He fought against the Russians and was captured.
Milovidov records that as of 1814 he had no other immediate family members who were still alive.
He settled in the Volga German colony of Frank but as of 1814 was assigned to the household of Michael Schmidt in the colony of Galka.
Wilhelm Schmallenberg is recorded on the 1834 census of Frank in Household No. 292 with a note that he died there in 1827.
Belousov records that Wilhelm Schmallenberg came from the German region of Mecklenberg. Milovidov records that Wilhelm Schmallenberg came from the German town of Frankfurt [am Oder] in the region of Prussia.
There do not appear to be any surviving male descendants of this family among the Volga German colonies.
