Casper Schmidt, his wife Elisabeth, and children (Wilhelm, age 13; Johanna, age 5; Christina, age ½) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that daughter Christina died en route.

Kaspar Schmidt, a farmer, his wife Elisabeth, and children (Wilhelm, age 15; Elisabeth 6) are recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Nieder-Monjou in Household No. 98.

In 1785, Johann Wilhelm Schmidt moved from Basel to Bettinger.

Wilhelm Schmidt is recorded on the 1798 census of Bettinger in Household No. Bt20.

The 1767 census records that Kaspar Schmidt came from the German region of Darmstadt.
