Jakob Schmidt, a farmer, and his wife Anna are recorded on a list of Beauregard recruits accompanying the 1767 census in Household No. 27.
Jakob Schmidt and his wife are recorded on the 1798 census of Basel in Household No. Bs04.
The 1767 census records that Jakob Schmidt came from the German village of Saalendorf.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Schmidt family among the Volga German colonies.
