Christian Schmidt & Charlotta Catharina Wassau were married on 30 May 1766 in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lübeck.

Christian Schmidt, a farmer, and his wife Charlotta arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Boisroux on 7 June 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 20.

The 1767 census records that Christian Schmidt came from the German village of Wendenburg in the region of Nassau.
