Anton Schmidt, a farmer, and his wife Anna Maria arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard the snow-brig named Christina under the command of Skipper Jacob Stappenberg.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Brabander on 26 June 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 88.

The 1767 census records that Anton Schmidt came from the German village of Wisinheim near Romenburg.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Schmidt family among the Volga German colonies.
