Johann Schmidt, a farmer, and his wife Eva Maria arrived from Lübeck at the port in Oranienbaum on 11 August 1766 aboard a Russian galliot named Citadel under the command of Midshipman Gregory Bukharin.
Johannes Schmidt and his wife Eva Maria are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Dönhof on 18 June 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 104.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Schmidt came from the German region of Pfalz. The 1767 census records that Johannes Schmidt came from the German region of Darmstadt.
