Johann Schmidt, a farmer, and his wife Eva Maria arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 11 August 1766 aboard the Russian galliot named Citadel under the command of Midshipman Gregory Bukharin.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Dönhof on 18 June 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 104.
