Johann Peter Schmidt (age 5) along with his mother and stepfather (Johann Georg Gross) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 August 1766 aboard the Russian galliot Strelna under the command of Lieutenant Sornev.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Krasnoyar on 20 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 58.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Schmidt family among the Volga German colonies.
