Discussion & Documentation

Gottfried Schmidt (age 16) settled in the Volga German colony of Rosenheim on 27 July 1765. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 25 along with his mother and stepfather, Gottlieb Treu.

The 1767 census indicates that Gottfried Schmidt's mother came from the German town of Königsberg in Prussia.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Schmidt family among the Volga German colonies.
