Karl Friedrich Schmidt, a single craftsman (Handwerker), settled in the Volga German colony of Schwed on 27 July 1765. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 7.
The 1767 census records that Karl Friedrich Schmidt came from the Swedish town of Malmö.
