Schmidt (Zürich-2)
Johann[es] Schmidt, a single farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.
Joh. Schmiedt [sic] is recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
He is recorded on an appendix of Beauregard recruits to the 1767 census in Household #33 along with his new wife Barbara.
He is recorded on the 1798 census of Volga German colony of Zürich in Household No. Zr19.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann[es] Schmidt came from the German region of Neukirch. The 1767 census records that he came from the German village of Völkersheim in the region of Neukirch.
