Schneider (Hockerberg-2)
Philipp [Heinrich] Schneider, a farmer, and his brother [Georg] Heinrich Schneider arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbum on 8 August 1766 aboard the galliot Anna Katharina under the command of Skipper Johann Joachim Janson.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Boisroux on 3 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 37 along with the Johann Friedrich Fer [?] family. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Schneider and Fer families.
A note on the 1767 census records that the Schneider brothers resettled to the colony of Schönchen in 1768, but this is doubtful since the Schneiders are recorded on both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census as being of the Lutheran faith, and Schönchen is a Catholic colony.
Johann [sic] Philipp Schneider from Hockerberg and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Kind in Household No. Kd12.
Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that Philipp Heinrich Schneider came from the German region of Darmstadt.
