Schneider (Norka-3)
Melchior Schneider, a single tailor, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard the barque named Fortitudo under the command of Skipper John Scott.
Melchior Schneider is recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
Melchior Schneider, a farmer, his wife Anna Maria, and his wife's sister Elisabeth [Jost] (age 16) settled in the Volga German colony of Norka on 26 August 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 187.
Melchior is recorded on the 1798 census of Norka in Household No. Nr183, erroneously under the name of Michael Schneider.
The death of Melchior Schneider in 1801 is recorded on the 1811 census of Norka in Household No. 184.
Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that Melchior Schneider came from the German district of Isenburg.
