Schneider (Straub)
Johann Christian Schneider, son of Johannes Schneider & Anna Dorothea Weydenbach, was born on 10 July 1740 in Hasselborn, a small village located 4 miles north of Usingen in Hessen.
Christian Schneider & Anna Margaretha Reitz, both from Hasselborn in the area of Usingen, were married on 22 April 1766 in the City Lutheran Church of Friedberg.
Johann Christian Schneider, a wheelwright (Wagenbauer), his wife Anna, and son Johann (age 2½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the ship Die Junge Heinrich under the command of Skipper Heinrich Niemann.
The Schneider family arrived in the Volga German colony of Straub on 12 July 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 Census in Household No. 39.
Descendants of this family are recorded on the 1798 census of Straub in Household No. Sr48.
Johannes Schneider and his son Johann Philipp are recorded on the 1811 census of Straub in Household No. 48 along with a note that they relocated to the colony of Neu-Straub [year not recorded].
Johannes Schneider and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Neu-Straub in Household No. 32.
The 1767 census records that Christian Schneider came from the German village of Hasselborn in the Nassau-Usingen region.
