Discussion & Documentation

Widow Julianna Schnell and her daughter Anna [sic] (age 3½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 May 1766 aboard the galliot Anna Katharina under the command of Skipper Daniel Geier.

Widow Schnell married Philipp Wagner. Philipp Wagner, his wife Julianna, and stepdaughter Elisabeth Schnell (age 7) are recorded on the 1767 census of Paulskaya in Household No. 27.

The 1767 census records that Julianna Schnell came from the German region of Braunfels.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Schnell family among the Volga German colonies.
