Johann Christoph Schulz, a merchant (Kaufmann), arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Gabriel Wild.

He settled in the Volga German colony of Susannental on 3 August 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 29.

The 1767 census records that Johann Christoph Schulz came from the German town of Leipzig.
