Johann Christoph Schulz, a merchant (Kaufmann), arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 26 August 1766 aboard a snow-brig named Die Jäger (The Hunter) under the command of Skipper Gabriel Will.
He settled in the Volga German colony of Susannental on 3 August 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 29.
The 1767 census records that Johann Christoph Schulz came from the German town of Leipzig.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Schulz family among the Volga German colonies.
