Schumpf*
Johannes Schumpf, a farmer, his wife Margaretha Engelhard, and daughter Magdalena (age 2-weeks) are recorded on the 1767 census of Hildmann in Household No. 42. They had settled there on 18 August 1767.
Joseph Schumpf is recorded on the 1834 census of Hildmann in Household No. 44 along with a note that he died in 1817. He is assumed to be a descendant of Johannes Schumpf.
The 1767 census records that Johannes Schumm [sic] came from the German region of Fulda.
There are no known surviving male lines of the Schumpf family among the Volga German colonies.
