Heinrich Schulze [sic], his wife Marianna, and children (Simon, age 16¼; Heinrich, age 11; Anna Maria, age 9; Margaretha, age 4; Cornelius, age 2¼) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 June 1766 aboard an English barque named George under the command of Skipper Adam Bairnsfair.
Heinr. Schutze [sic], his wife Mariana, and children (Joh. Simon, age 17; Heinr. Nicolaus, age 11; Anna Maria, age 9; Margar. Wilhelmina, age 4; Joh. Cornelius, age 2) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Ober-Monjou on 7 June 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 54.
The 1767 census of Ober-Monjou records that Heinrich Schütz relocated in 1768 to the colony of Katharinenstadt, but the movement tables accompanying the 1767 census of Ober-Monjou record that in 1769, Christian Schütz and his family moved from Ober-Monjou to Katharinenstadt.
Wenzel Hauptmann (age 45), his wife Anna Maria née Duyrat (widow Schütz) (age 45), and step-children (Anna Maria Schütz, age 18; Margaretha Wilhelmina Schütz, age 15; Joseph Peter Schütz, age 8) are recorded on the 1776 Katharinenstadt Grundbuch [Land Register] in Household No. 66 along with a note that Joseph died 11 July 1777.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Heinrich Schulze [sic] was a farmer. The 1767 census records that Heinrich Schütz [sic] was a merchant (Kaufmann).
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Heinrich Schulze [sic] came from the German region of Schwaben (Swabia). The 1767 census records that Heinrich Schütz came from the German village of Albstadt [?] in the Schwaben (Swabia) region. The 1776 Katharinenstadt Land Register records that the Schütz children came from Dessau in the Anhalt region.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Schütz family among the Volga German colonies.
