Michael Schwartz, a farmer, his wife Sibilla [née Petri], and [step-]sons (Johann [Scherer], age 19; Peter [Scherer], age 16¼; Karl [Iserloh], age 7) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 June 1766 aboard the 2-masted merchant ship named Anna Katharina under the command of Skipper Adolph Scharpenberg.
Johann Michael Schwartz (age 49), a teacher (Schulmeister), is recorded on the 1767 census of Keller in Household No. 69 along with a note that his wife had died there on 20 November 1767. They had arrived in Keller on 12 May 1767.
Stepsons Johannes Scherer (age 22) & Peter Scherer (age 20) are recorded on the 1767 census of Keller in Household No. 34.
Stepson Karl Joseph Iserloh (age 9) is recorded on the 1767 census of Keller in Household No. 9.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Michael Schwartz came from the German village of Westhofen. The 1767 census records that Johann Michael Schwarz came from the German village of Welshofen [sic] in the Kurpfalz region.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Schwarz family among the Volga German colonies.
