Discussion & Documentation

Anton Sommer, a single farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a galliot named Concordia under the command of Skipper Jakob Bauert.

He settled in the Volga German colony of Pfeifer on 15 June 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 32 along with his new wife Elisabeth.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Anton Sommer came from the German region of Mainz. The 1767 census records that he came from the German village of Aschaffenburg.
