Johann Sparwasser, a farmer, his wife Margaretha Elisabeth, and daughters (Katharina Elisabeth, age 22½; Maria Margaretha, age 20; Anna Margaretha, age 10¼; Margaretha Elisabeth, age 10¼; Margaretha Katharina, age 7) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 31 May 1766 aboard a galliot named Die Vergoldete Weintraube (The Gilded Grape) under the command of Skipper Joachim Hermann Andersen.
It appears that only two daughters survived to settle in the Volga German colony of Warenburg on 12 May 1767. Katharina Maragaretha (age 13) is recorded on the 1767 census of Warenburg in Household No. 14 along with her sister, Anna Margaretha (age 22), who is married to Johann Simsen.
Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that the Sparwasser family came from the German area of Darmstadt.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Sparwasser family among the Volga German colonies.
