Johan Henrich Sprankel, son of Jost Sprankel & Anna Maria Ruphel, was born 3 May 1702 in Queckborn. He married in Queckborn on 2 November 1729 to Catharina Gernert, daughter of Johan Conrad Gernert & Anna Elisabetha Köhler. She had been born in Queckborn on 24 August 1709.

The births of the following children born to Johan Henrich Sprankel & Catharina Gernert are recorded in Queckborn: (1) Johannes, born 13 August 1730; (2) Anna Elisabetha, born 20 September 1732, buried 30 April 1733; (3) Anna Elisabetha, born 10 March 1734, died 1 June 1734; (4) Anna Maria, born 13 March 1735, died 24 July 1780 [in Queckborn]; (5) Catharina, born 8 October 1737, died 7 August 1813 [in Queckborn]; (6) Anna Maria, baptized 29 June 1740, buried 4 May 1801 [in Queckborn]; (7) Sophia, baptized 9 February 1743, buried 11 May 1744; (8) Hanß Henrich, born 16 March 1745, died 30 May 1746; (9) Johann Henrich, born 11 June 1747, died 19 August 1747; and (10) Elisabetha, born 11 June 1747.

Johannes Spranckel [sic] married in Queckborn on 29 January 1756 to Anna Catharina Scheld, daughter of Henrich Schelt [sic] & Maria Köhler. She had been baptized in Queckborn on 29 May 1725.

The births of the following children born to Johannes Spranckel & Anna Catharina Scheld are recorded in Queckborn: (1) Anna Catharina, born 12 February 1757, died 28 October 1759; (2) Anna Elisabetha, born 24 April 1759; (3) Henrich Philipp, born 4 August 1760; (4) Johannes, born 10 November 1762; (5) Catharina, born 21 April 1764; and (6) Johann Georg, born 27 February 1766.

Father Johan Henrich Sprankel died in Queckborn on 11 October 1762.

Johann Springel [sic], a farmer, his wife Katharina, and children (Elisabeth, age 8; Heinrich Philipp, age 6; Johann, age 4; Katharina, age 3; Johann Georg, age 1½) arrived from Lübeck at the port in Oranienbaum on 29 July 1766 aboard a ship named Apollo under the command of Skipper Friedrich Detloff Mörenberg.

Johann Springel [sic], a farmer, his [new] wife Gertrude, children (Johannes, age 8; Elisabeth, age 7; Johann Georg, age 1), and mother Katharina (age 52) are recorded on the 1767 census of Kraft in Household No. 21. They had arrived in Kraft on 18 August 1767.

Widow Anna Katharina Sprangel is recorded on the 1798 Census in Kraft living in Household No. Kf39 with her daughter Anna Margaretha's family (surname Bertram). Anna Katharina's son Johannes (age 37) is recorded with them, but is working in Dreispitz.

This Johannes Sprangel next appears on the 1834 census of Holstein in Household No. 66 (as having died in 1820). His descendants are living in the daughter colony of Eckheim.

The 1767 census records that Johann Sprangel came from the German village of Queckborn in the Darmstadt area.
